MEANING: An artistic interpretation of the Triquetra, which conveys the meanings of the Three Aspects of the Goddess; Maiden, Mother and Crone and after the fifth century, the Christian Trinity. The six-pointed star at the center also means “The Kingdom of Heaven is Within You.”
THE CARVING:
Our carvings are single pieces of western red cedar, designed and carved to be wall hangings. Each carving begins as a 1 X 12 inch cedar board. While we use power tools (Scroll Saw, Rotary shaft Tool, handheld detail sanders etc.), we use no laser’s, CNC machines or computer operated cutting machines. All work is done with our hands and eyes…
We cut the 2 dimensional blanks with scroll and jig saws (double-sized custom orders have to be cut with jigsaw). Carving is done with rotary shaft tools and disc grinders. The 80 grit sanding is the final phase of the carving process, removing the nicks and gouges from the carving tools, and finishes the shaping of the weave. The next 2 sandings with 120 then 220 grit finishes the smoothing and polishing. They are finished with Clear Danish Oil to seal the piece, bringing out the grain and the color.

FROM COOPER: In the late 1990’s I had finally started focusing on my carving career and was carving a lot of pussy cats. Hollis Wayne was my neighbor at the Bristol Renaissance Festival for about 12 years. She came up to me one day with a book of Celtic Knots and said, “Cooper, can you cut these?” I said, “Hollis, I can cut anything.” So she pointed to the knot that we now call the Kingdom of Heaven Triquetra and said, “Can you cut this?” I answered, “I’ll cut it for you.” and her reply was, “If you learn to do Celtic Knots, the knot freaks with come out of the wood work and it will change your life!” Well, here we are…Thank you Hollis! (In the workshop he still refers to this design as the Hollis Knot…K~)
