MEANING: Flame shaped triquetra represents cleansing and renewal. As we spiral inward, we burn away the negative patterns of habit and thinking that hold us back. As in the plant world, that regenerates itself from the ashes of the old, out of the ashes comes new growth, and thoughts, expanding into rebirth of ideas and new ways of being. An artistic variation of the Triquetra knot that represents the three aspects of the ancient Celtic Goddess; Maiden, Mother, Crone and later the Christian Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
THE CARVING: My Carvings are single pieces of western red cedar, designed and carved to be wall hangings. Each piece is finished with a blend of clear oils that brings out the natural color of the wood. For more information on the process of creation, please see my bio.
SIZE: One picture has the piece on a quilting board, lined up on the 1 inch marks. So subtract 1 inch from the height and width for the stock size. Measurements may vary slightly from piece to piece.
The quilting board, at its simplest, is a board that has 1 inch marks going up the sides and across the top and bottom. There are lines connecting top and bottom, left to right. So it is a one inch grid. (Took me a bit to get to that right word...grid...as Coop says, "I'm not senile, I just have an old processor and sometimes it takes awhile to find the information, but it will come!") So with the piece on the board, you look at the top and follow the line to the left and look at the right side at the widest point and follow the line to the bottom and you have height by width...but wait! It's not that easy! The way this board I have is laid out, if I lined it up on the zero points it would cover up the numbers and on some pieces you wouldn't be able to see them...so, I line it up on the 1 inch marks which means when you get the numbers, you have to subtract 1 inch... TA DA!
