Four Hearts Squared Celtic Love Knot- Lifetime of Love Symbol - Elder Futhark Gebo X Rune Wood Carving

MEANING:  This Celtic Love Knot consists of Four Hearts composed of one line meaning a Lifetime of Love. To the Celts, a knot formed from one continuous line evoked eternity. Hearts symbolize Love and Relationships.  

While heart shaped Love symbols are forefront, if you change your perspective, you can see the X in the middle of the Hearts, the space within… In rune lore, X is Gebo, meaning gift or fair exchange. Remember, in a Lifetime of Love, fair exchange of giving and receiving must be balanced.

THE CARVING: Our carvings are single pieces of western red cedar, designed and carved to be wall hangings.  Each carving begins as a 1 X 12 inch cedar board.  While we use power tools (Scroll Saw, Rotary shaft Tool, handheld detail sanders etc.), we use no laser’s, CNC machines or computer operated cutting machines.  All work is done with our hands and eyes… 

We cut the 2 dimensional blanks with scroll and jig saws (double-sized custom orders have to be cut with jigsaw). Carving is done with rotary shaft tools and disc grinders. The 80 grit sanding is the final phase of the carving process, removing the nicks and gouges from the carving tools, and finishes the shaping of the weave. The next 2 sandings with 120 then 220 grit finishes the smoothing and polishing. They are finished with Clear Danish Oil to seal the piece, bringing out the grain and the color.

Our standard carving has an 9.25 X 9.25 inches and the miniature of 5.5 X 5.5 inches.

If you require different sizes, we can accommodate with limitations. 

In general, the largest as we can get from one board is limited to 11 inches on one side (we use 1 X 12 inch cedar boards) On the Miniature variation, our limitation is determined by the cut out parts (after a point, the little holes are too little).

For a custom Large Size... Anything over an 11 inch diameter requires Coop to laminate 2 boards together.  This allows a width of up to 22 inches.  When he does this, the price doesn’t just double because he goes from 11” width to 22” width. The square footage of the piece goes from approximately 1 sq. foot to 4 sq. foot. So the price will be 3 times the price of the standard size carving.  This is a custom order that will be created specifically for you.
